A smoke shop isn’t a true vape shop. One sells a little of everything. The other specializes.
They’re convenience-style retail, mastery of nothing, minimal guidance, and upsells disguised as help.
Most people don’t realize how wide the quality gap is in e-liquids and devices, because many smoke shops and hybrid stores prioritize cheap, sugar-heavy flavor profiles that sell fast rather than liquids built for clean taste and consistency. That isn’t a true vape-shop issue - it’s the result of stores that shifted away from helping smokers transition and toward selling whatever moves volume. In that environment, quality liquids disappear and education disappears. Without that context, customers are often left chasing sweet, dopamine-reinforced sensations rather than actual flavor performance. Those formulations fade quickly, wreck coils faster, and get mislabeled as “vape tongue,” when it’s usually the flavor base breaking down

We build relationships around each customer’s vaping experience. We remember names, preferences, and what worked or didn’t work last time, and we follow up on the next visit. If something malfunctions, we don’t pass the buck - we deal with distributors, push for replacements, and make it right when we can. That level of support isn’t common, but it’s how trust is built and why customers stick with us long term.
Device & Experience
Device choice matters just as much as liquid quality. We carry hardware from manufacturers with long, proven track records - devices that are reliable, consistent, and actually suited to how people vape. We don’t chase clones or gimmicks, and we avoid all systems that sacrifice consistency for novelty. Every device we stock has been tested in real-world use, so when we recommend something, it’s based on how it performs over time, not on what’s newest or most profitable.
Troubleshooting vs Upselling
We don’t upsell - we troubleshoot. Most device issues come down to settings that were accidentally changed, a coil or airflow mismatch, or small wear points like a nicked O-ring that causes leaking. These problems can make a device look broken when it isn’t. We take the time to diagnose what’s actually happening and show customers how to fix it, which often saves them money and frustration. And when it truly is time to replace a device, we’ll say so - but until then, we help troubleshoot so customers can decide when they’re ready.

I didn’t open Vapor Vault because I spotted a business opportunity.
I opened it because vaping worked for me - completely, effortlessly, and without even trying. I've been smoke free for 13 years now and it happened almost overnight. I couldn't stop thinking about how many smokers had no idea something like this existed and had to act.
So yes, I was the customer first.
I know what it feels like to walk into a store knowing nothing, needing guidance, and hoping the person behind the counter actually cares.
That experience is why Vapor Vault exists.
About Mike
When a customer brings in a struggling device, Mike listens first. Within minutes, he’s walking them through his thinking out loud - checking ohm selection, O-rings, coil age, device settings - showing his work like a teacher, never making anyone feel foolish for not knowing. If a device needs replacing, he starts with the lowest price option and works up from there, only recommending what’s actually needed - always with a smile and great conversation.
His understanding of flavor goes deeper than most. He can tell you how a juice will hit on the inhale versus the exhale, which notes will dominate at different wattages, and how sweeteners and menthols behave across coil types and vaping styles. He knows exactly what happens when thin juice runs too hot or thick juice simmers too low - burnt coils, gunked pods, lost flavor. Most of the time, he can diagnose it before you even finish describing it.
He vets every device and every juice we carry.
Today, he’s my business partner, co-owner, and best friend. Between the two of us, we bring nearly 30 years of combined vape experience to every customer who walks through that door
